About the Condition

What Is Bifid Nose With Hypertelorism?

Bifid nose, also called cleft nose, is a congenital defect that occurs when the two sides of the nose don’t fuse together. In mild cases, a groove is visible along the tip of the nose. In more severe cases, the bones and cartilage are affected and the nose is separated into two parts. Hypertelorism occurs when the space between the eye sockets is abnormally wide.

How Common Is Bifid Nose?

The condition is extremely rare. In most cases the cause isn’t known, but bifid nose may be associated with BNAR syndrome (bifid nose, renal agenesis and anorectal malformations syndrome).

How Is It Treated?

Bifid nose with hypertelorism typically requires reconstructive surgery with an experienced craniofacial team. The prognosis depends on the presence of other anomalies.

Benefits of 3D Printing

3D-printed anatomy models offer a variety of advantages for surgical planning, patient education and medical research, including:

∙ Greater accuracy and detail than traditional anatomical models. 3D-printed models are created from digital scans of a patient's anatomy, which ensures that they are as close as possible to an exact replica of real human anatomy.

∙ More versatility than traditional anatomical models. 3D-printed models can be customized to meet your specific needs, whether planning a complex surgical procedure, training with real patient data or facilitating personalized patient communication.

Not limited to standard manufacturing, 3DP provides the best opportunity to produce accurate models in natural organic shapes, sizes, and colors; creating the best representation of real human anatomy.
